Introduction: The aim of this study was compare the smile attractiveness in patients
with Class III malocclusion orthodontically treated in a compensatory mode with
Biofunctional and Roth prescription. Material and methods: Extraoral smiling
photographs of 64 patients were used, 33 treated with Biofunctional prescription and
31 with Roth. The smile attractiveness was evaluated by a group of 55 orthodontists
and the data analyzed by the non-parametric Mann-Whitney test. Results: The
results showed statistically significant difference between the two groups, observing
the most esthetically pleasing smiles at the patients treated with Biofunctional
prescription. Conclusion: It was concluded that Class III patients orthodontically
treated in a compensatory mode with Biofunctional prescription showed higher smile
attractiveness as regards treaties with Roth prescription. |
