dc.description.abstract Objectives: The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of autoclaving on maximal twist into new, autoclaved mini - implants after insertion in the oral and subjected to orthodontic forces cavity. Methodology: In this study 34 self-drilling mini-implants titanium ( Ti- 6Al -4V ) of the same brand were used: Morelli registration MS / ANVISA - ( 10,396,830,041 ) broken to measure 1.5 mm in diameter, length transmucosal 8.0 mm and 2.0 mm. Of these, 24 mini - implants (group 1) were inserted into the oral cavity, for various functions in orthodontic therapy, and after approximately four (4) months were removed and autoclaved. Ten new mini - implants served as control group (group 2). For the mechanical test twisting mini - implant (Sorocaba - SP) Dental Morelli Company released the Universal Testing Machine (EMIC), coupled with a device to torsion test. Mini-implants (inserted and autoclaved and control group) were subjected to mechanical torsion testing to evaluate resistance to torque. Results: Mini-implants in group 1 (used and autoclaved) and mini - implants in group 2 (new) showed no statistically significant difference (p > 0.05) in the test of resistance to torsion test. Conclusion: It can be concluded that autoclaving of mini - implants after use in different orthodontic mechanics does not change its values of resistance to twisting, keeping within the limits recommended by the manufacturer for clinical use in orthodontics. pt_BR
