COMPARAÇÃO CEFALOMÉTRICA DAS ALTERAÇÕES DENTOESQUELÉTICAS E TEGUMENTARES DE INDIVÍDUOS COM MÁ OCLUSÃO DE CLASSE II TRATADOS ORTODONTICAMENTE COM EXTRAÇÕES DE DOIS E QUATRO PRÉ-MOLARES

Abstract

The present study aimed to compare the cephalometric dental, skeletal and soft tissue changes in individuals with malocclusion class II division 1, who were treated orthodontically with extraction of two and four premolars.The sample consisted of 60 initials and 60 finals radiographs of patients with malocclusion class II division 1 malocclusion, of both genders and divided into 2 groups: Group 1, consisting of 30 patients treated orthodontically with extraction of two premolars, with a mean age of 13.76,treated for an average period of 2.99 years; and Group 2 consisting of 30 patients treated orthodontically with extraction of four premolars, with a mean age of 13.24, treated for an average period of 2.91 years. The intergroup comparisons were performed with independent t test. Based on the measured sample and the methodology used, the following changes in the two groups were found: The molar extruded more in Group 2.Group 2 had the most retruded and lingually compared to group 1 lower incisors. Group 2 presented the most mesial molars than Group 1. Molar relationship Class II increased in Group 1 and decreased in Group 2. The overjet was corrected in the group with more extraction of two premolars and overbite in the group extraction of two premolars decreased in the group with extraction of four premolars increased. The nasolabial angle differed between the two groups, being more openin the group treated with extraction of two premolars. There was a greater retractionof the lower lip in the group with extraction of four premolars.
