COMPARAÇÃO DAS FORÇAS DE ATRITO ESTÁTICO E DINÂMICO EM FIOS DE BETA TITÂNIO

Abstract

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the static and dynamic forces of friction on beta titanium wires in metal self-ligating and convencional with elastic ligation brackets. Material and Methods: Five types of different wires, calibre 0,017” x 0,025”, was analysed: 2 of beta titanium with ionic implantation, 2 of beta titanium not treated, and 1 of stainless steel wire. All the tests were performed on dry condition, environment temperature of 24˚C, in universal test machine EMIC DL 2000. To compare the results was performed the analisis of variance one way (ANOVA) and Tukey´s multiple comparison test with significant results of p<0,05. Results: All wires has performed lower static and dynamic force of friction on self-ligating brackets when it was compared to conventional brackets. In the self-ligating bracket, the wires which performed the lowest force of friction was the stainless steel wires and BetaFlexy, the highest medias were the beta titanium with ions implementation. For the conventional brackets test with elastomeric ligature, the behaviour of the force of friction in beta titanium wires with ions implementation, -TMA Colors Low Friction Purple, was similar to the stainless steel wires. Conclusion: The ion implantation in beta titanium wire does not reduce friction forces when are used in self-ligation system, but the wire TMA Low Friction Purple Color features similar to frictional forces the stainless steel wires when are used in conventional brackets with elastic ligation.
