AVALIAÇÃO DO GRAU DE SATISFAÇÃO NO USO DAS CONTENÇÕES TERMOPLASTIFICADA E TIPO HAWLEY MODIFICADA

Abstract

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare the degree of satisfaction in the use of Termoplastified and Modified Hawley restrainers. Material and Methods: The study was carried out by 70 patients in orthodontic studies at the Chagas Dental Office ME, who were in the comparison phase, 24 males and 46 females, mean age 20.80 years. All retainers types were improved for 1 month each and 3x3 fixed lower retainer. A questionnaire and an independent test were applied to compare the questions from 1 to 9. Chi-square test, to analyze the preference of the type of device by gender. Descriptive statistics for presentation of data and results. Results: There was a statistically significant difference in relation to swallowing of liquid and saliva for a Thermoplastic retainer. Search statistically significant for the modified Hawley retainer in relation to the hygiene of the apparatus and resistance. Conclusion: Regarding the general satisfaction in the use of restraints, there was no difference between the two appliances evaluated; Hawley Modified in relation to the hygiene and resistance of the apparatus; Regarding swallowing of liquids and saliva, satisfaction was significantly greater with a Thermoplastic; Approximately 53% preferred the modified Hawley and 47% Thermoplasticized. The main reason was satisfaction with the overall use of the appliance.
