EFEITOS DO ATIVADOR ABERTO ELÁSTICO DE KLAMMT NO TRATAMENTO DA MÁ OCLUSÃO DE CLASSE II DIVISÃO 1

Abstract

In this research was conducted by means of cephalometric study in order to determine the dental and skeletal effects of a group of 22 patients with malocclusion Class II division 1 treated with elastic open activator Klammt with a mean age of 9, 71 years at the beginning and 11,30 at the end of treatment, which were compared to a control group of 25 subjects not undergoing orthodontic treatment and matched chronologically to the experimental group. For each individual of both groups corresponded to two cephalograms start and end of each period evaluated. The treatment effects were identified by using 25 linear and angular cephalometric variables. Cephalometric variables were measured and analyzed statistically. The "t" Student test was used to compare the differences between the changes observed in the experimental group and control group in both periods. The results showed that the device Klammt not promote changes in jaw development. Promoted an increase in the effective length and body of the mandible. The maxillomandibular relationship improved significantly in the treated groups compared to controls. The dentoalveolar changes showed greater retrusion in the maxillary incisors and greater lingual inclination for the experimental group. The lower incisors showed greater buccal inclination and protrusion in the experimental group. In dental relationship, the experimental group showed greater correction of overjet, and molar relationship. The experimental group showed no significance in relation to changes in the profile during orthopedic treatment. The results demonstrate that the effects of activator Klammt during this time were also dentoalveolar and skeletal.
