Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to evaluate study the cephalometric effects,
changes in dental inclinations and the soft tissue changes in patients with Angle
Class I malocclusion, treated orthodontically without dental extraction, with
preadjusted appliance Roth prescription self-ligated. The sample used in this
retrospective study consisted of 29 initial cephalograms and 29 final cephalograms of
29 patients of both genders, between 10-45 years of age, who were treated in
particular clinics in cities at the state of Paraná, and the inclusion criteria was the
presence of Angle Class I malocclusion, presence of all permanent teeth erupted up
to the first permanent molars, treated without extractions. To verify the changes with
treatment between initial and final phases, dependent t tests were applied to the
cephalometric variables studied. Based on the sample and the methodology used,
the changes caused by corrective treatment with preadjusted appliance Roth
prescription self-ligated were: slight maxillary protrusion, slight increase in the
mandibular effective length, protrusion and buccal tipping of maxillary incisors, buccal
tipping of mandibular incisors, reduction of the interincisive angle. Profile changes
were: slight decrease in the nasolabial angle end lower lip protrusion.
